  • The National Youth Solvent Abuse Committee, the National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation, and the University of Saskatchewan are pleased to announce that Debra Dell, Carol Hopkins and Colleen Dell and colleagues have published two articles in a special issue of the journal Substance Use & Misuse, supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) International Program. The special issue of the journal was released June 18 during the NIDA International Forum and College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) Annual Scientific Meeting.

  • The National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation (NNAPF) has been co-hosting/sponsoring a series of regional forums engaging stakeholder’s representative of the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP). The purpose of the forums have been to advance knowledge translation on research priorities specific to NNADAP addictions and mental health both community and treatment centre-based (Atlantic 2009, ON/QC 2010, SK/MB 2010 and BC/YK/AB/NWT to be completed March 2011).

  • We are pleased to announce that the Resolution to support the NNADAP / YSAP Renewal Framework was passed by the Chiefs-in-Assembly at the Assembly of First Nations, Special Chiefs Assembly, on December 15, 2010 in Gatineau, Quebec.

    The resolution received unanimous support.

[NNAPF] was created in 2000 as a not-for-profit organization to serve as the National voice for First Nations and Inuit culturally based addiction services. NNAPF is committed to working with Inuit and First Nations in furthering the capacity to address addictions and related issues.

  • Can a life be changed simply by becoming aware of an issue? The answer is yes. November 14-20, 2010 is National Aboriginal Addictions Awareness Week (NAAAW), a time to raise awareness about how addictions affect our communities.

    Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities alike all have a stake in addressing addictions. No matter where your community is at, NAAAW is about coming together to speak with one voice.

  • The National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation (NNAPF) has invited NNADAP Treatment Centre Directors and other expert guests from Manitoba and Saskatchewan to an addiction and mental health regional research consultation, to be held in Saskatoon/ Wanuskewin Heritage Park, SK, beginning the evening of October 4th and followed by a 1 and ½ day agenda October 5th & 6th.

  • "The Journey of an Honorable Warrior"

    November 3 & 4, 2010
    Saskatoon, SK

    This year the conference will focus on men. Men need to be fully committed in the fight against the epidemics that are affecting our communities in alarming numbers. This calls for the men to be warriors in this battle. They can be influential by making sure that HIV is not brought into the family; by caring for those in the family that are infected, by talking to their partners and by educating their children.

  • The Annual General Meeting of the Members of the National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation Inc. will be held in the Terrace Room of the Radisson Hotel Winnipeg Downtown, 280 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, in the province of Manitoba on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 beginning at 1:00 pm.

  • The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was created to talk about all of the experiences and impacts of the residential schools, and the path to respect and reconciliation. One of the ways in which the TRC will fulfill their mandate is through national events on Indian Residential Schools. The first event is scheduled at The Forks in Winnipeg on June 16-19, 2010. The event is public, and survivors may register in advance at www.trc.ca. Participants will include survivors and their families, government officials, Church officials, and the public.
